Bottom Line

Out of the four Princess properties in Punta Cana, this 263-room all-inclusive is the pricier, adults-only option. It is a bit more upscale than the other three, though honeymooners should go for one of the seven Honeymoon Suites for more romantic amenities. Sometimes the resort can feel like an adult party, especially considering the afternoon pool scene, lobby entertainment, and 24-hour beach bar. Those looking for a quieter experience can hit the beach, snag a day bed and have drinks delivered from a server -- though vendors can sometimes be a nuisance. There are five restaurants on-site, including a romantic beachside Mediterranean option, and guests also get access to nightlife at the other resorts, which ensures plenty of variety.

A relaxed, comfortable and fun setting for adults

This smaller Princess resort is said to be the more romantic option because it is adults-only, but with the lively afternoon pool scene, lobby entertainment, and 24-hour beach bar, it doesn't offer peace and quiet all the time. The lobby, sans kiddos, does in fact feel relaxing during the day -- a great place to enjoy a drink before it becomes hopping at night with evening performances.

Beyond the lobby are tennis courts and a row of colorful buildings holding gift shops and a medical center, which makes way for three-story buildings in bright blue, yellow and red. Guests can ask a groundskeeper to slice open a coconut and enjoy it right there, in the middle of the manicured grounds, which are decorated with exotic-looking statues that are hard not to photograph.

Though the property is spread out, it’s not too far of a walk to get to the pool and beach, or back to the lobby and main restaurant area (no tram needed). Without a kids' club or a big theater, the property feels more intimate and relaxed. The pool, however, especially in the presence of the animation team, can get quiet rowdy. Adults holding extra-large mugs filled with beer can be found here dancing to the loud music. For relaxation, the beach area with cushy lounge areas and drink service is a few steps away.

At night, guests can take part in the pre-dinner lobby scene before wandering to one of the five restaurants. Saturday nights, the beach becomes lively with a Dominican-themed barbecue dinner and entertainment. Overall, the resort is a good place for adults, especially groups. Honeymooners, unless confirmed for one of the seven Honeymoon Suites, may want to look elsewhere.

A good area of Bavaro with a slightly smaller beach than its neighbors

The resort, like all Princess properties, is in Bavaro -- about a 30-minute drive from the Punta Cana airport. There's not much to see and do outside the resort, making it a great all-inclusive option for those who want to relax. The main draw here is the beach. All resorts in this area face east for spectacular sunrises, and guests can be seen either at the beach photographing the sunrise, or drinking coffee and watching it from their patios (some suites have sea views). Because this resort (including the beach area) is smaller in size, guests can easily get to and from main areas of the resort without the use of a tram, making for some romantic evenings strolls amongst the beautiful grounds.

Jetted tubs, separate living areas, and coffeemakers

The identical three-story buildings hold 263 Deluxe Suites and seven Honeymoon Suites. Rooms are more luxurious than at the other Princess properties; decor is modern here, with white linens, dark woods, bright red furnishings and bronzed wall accents. These suites include two double beds or one king-size bed, living areas, minibars, and coffee machines. Patios are one smaller side and have plastic patio furniture, but some have spectacular views of the sea. Honeymoon Suites have even more modern decor -- mostly white -- and come with a king bed, living area, welcome fruit basket with a bottle of rum and cigars, two free 20-minute massages, and a dinner at one of sister property Caribe Club’s romantic options, such as La Cava.

A good range of restaurant options considering it's a smaller property

Guests staying for long periods of time will appreciate the varied cuisine. There are five restaurants in a few different areas of the resort -- all walking distance from each other. The main buffet, closer to the lobby, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there's another buffet restaurant on the beach for breakfast, lunch, tea, and snacks (this space becomes a romantic a la carte Mediterranean restaurant at night).

There is also a steakhouse, an Italian a la carte restaurant, and a fondue restaurant in a Swiss chalet setting. Saturday nights there is a lively Dominican buffet on the beach with entertainment from the animation team.

Drinks are never a problem: There is a 24-hour bar on-site, as well as poolside and lobby bars with extended hours. For live entertainment, all guests have access to the disco, casino and theater at the other Princess properties from a shuttle that leaves from the lobby. There is a mini-spa on the beach, and a larger spa next door at Tropical with a fitness center.
